Zoological nomenclature

3-7 June 2019, Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France

This course will provide an overview of the history and epistemology of biological nomenclature and will discuss the relationships between phylogeny, taxonomy, and nomenclature. The zoological code will be presented in detail and a few comments will be given concerning the other codes.

Taxonomy of pollinators

1-5 July 2019, Museum of Natural History, Ferrara, Italy

In this course, you will learn how to sample, preserve, and identify hoverflies and wild bees and how to manage entomological collections. You'll also learn about their use as bioindicators and their role in the ecosystem. Overall a well-rounded course for anyone interested in pollinators!

Basics of taxonomy

28 October - 8 November 2019, Tollboden, Drøbak, Norway

This course is an excellent opportunity to acquire fundamental knowledge in taxonomy. You will learn how to use DELTA to describe taxa in a standardized format and how to make a digital drawing in Illustrator. You will learn about the ins and outs of scientific illustration, and scientific writing and communication. Finally, you will be brought up to speed with the latest advances in biodiversity informatics during an e-taxonomy module.
