RATIONALE

Zooplankton is the key trophic group in aquatic ecosystems, linking primary producer and fish. Zooplankton ecology provides with a critical knowledge to develop technology of water quality management via biomanipulation. South East Asia is located in a special zone, in which the zooplankton from the oriental and palearctic regions meet and mix, has a high diversity. However, human activity such as cultural eutrophication and pollution strongly affect habitats of zooplankton, such that many species may be lost before even they have not been discovered. This workshop aims at providing a platform of idea exchange on zooplankton for zooplanktonists, limnologists and scientists of water quality management, stimulating scientific collaboration and connection to improve our understanding of biodiversity and evolution of zooplankton in the special region.

REGISTRATION

The registration fee is 500 US$ including lodging and a short excursion of sampling zooplankton. 300 US$ for students.

The registration fee is free for all members of the scientific committee. The invited speakers are fully supported by the organizer. A limited grant is available to cover this fee for 10 selected students outside China. This grant is supported by Project of 211 Engineering for Hydrobiology from Education Ministry to Jinan University.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

All participants are welcome to submit an abstract of 400 words. For invited speeches, the abstract can be longer. Each presentation is about 30 minutes. Students are encouraged to give oral presentation and posters.

DEADLINES

The deadline for registration and for students’ application is April 1, 2011. Applicants will be notified before April 15, 2010.
