Classical taxonomy of these fungi is based on
the discrete characters of the spore's subcellular structures and the spore's
ontogeny. Assessing the states of these taxonomic characters is however difficult because AMF are hypogeous and microscopic. Detection of glomalean fungi is therefore increasingly done via molecular methods.`
</p>
<p>
This project involves training of Mr FERNANDEZ in molecular methods for taxonomic purposes and should enebale Mr FERNANDEZ to decide on the taxonomic identity of some of the taxa he detected earlier.</p>
