  <title type="html">Belgian National Focal Point to the GTI - Funding sources</title>
  <subtitle type="html">&lt;p&gt;In the framework of its capacity building programme for the Global Taxonomy Initative, the Belgian GTI Focal Point compiles funding sources for taxonomy and biodiversity. The financial resources listed target research, conservation, education, public awareness, etc. The list does not pretend to be exhaustive, but it offers a good overview of the current funding offer.&lt;/p&gt;

  <summary type="html" xml:lang="en">The European Union, through its seventh framework programme, also offers several funding possibilities. In most cases only EU member and associated states are eligible, but for the &lt;em&gt;International Incoming Fellowships&lt;/em&gt; and the &lt;em&gt;International Research Staff Exchange Scheme&lt;/em&gt; some other countries are also eligible. The latter action is however not yet activated.&lt;br /&gt;

  <summary type="html" xml:lang="en">The &lt;strong&gt;Catalogue of Funding Sources&lt;/strong&gt; is a worldwide compendium of financial institutions, agencies, services and other entities that provide international assistance to biodiversity undertakings in particular in the developing countries and the countries with economies in transition.&amp;nbsp; It contains financial and related assistance programs identified by Governments in their national reports and is also based on additional research conducted by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.</summary>
